  • This webpage provides information for students wishing to prepare the Duolingo Test.

"The Duolingo English Test (DET) is a standardized test of the English language designed to be internet-based rather than paper-based. DET is an adaptive test that uses an algorithm to adapt the difficulty of the test to the test-taker. It was developed by Duolingo in 2014 as a Test Center and grew in popularity and acceptance at universities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Ireland accepts the test as part of its student visa program" (Source: Wikipedia).

It is presently accepted by 6,000 institutions worldwide.

You can find the Duolingo English test homepage here (fixed English homepage here).

To have an idea of how the test works online, you can view an introduction video here .

PRACTICE FREE: you can practice work on the test for free, on the homepage, and once you have opened an account (fixed English homepage here).

Students in the ASWP ELP programme may request a voucher to take the test free, by contacting the ASWP organisers.
NOTE: once you have received the voucher, you must take the test within 21 days, and you may only receive one voucher.
