Hi everyone,
I have received several emails asking for additional precisions regarding the big data exam.
The exam will include one question based on material from Lisa’s first lecture. To prepare for it, you should read the paper Aiken et al. (2022) Machine learning and phone data can improve targeting of humanitarian aid before the exam (see attachment).
The remaining part of the exam will cover the material from my lectures. It will include both theoretical or conceptual questions and applied exercises focused on understanding Python code. The questions will address all topics covered in class, except the mathematical developments we deliberately set aside, as well as all practical exercises for which I provided solutions. For these applied questions, you need to be able to read Python code and follow the computational steps, but you will not be required to write any code.
Best,
Clément
