Résumé de section

  • During this semester we will spend five sessions working on transport and climate change. These sessions are based on five modules, which will broadly follow a course plan designed by GPT-4 in response to the following prompt:

"Develop a course outline on the energy transition for master's degree students in international transport. The course should include 5 modules of 2 hours each. It should begin with a general overview of the main causes of global warming and should then move on to use of oil-based fuels in transport, by the main modes of transport (maritime, air transport, roal haulage and rail freight). The course should then survey what is being done in these sectors to reduce their carbon footprint. Finally, the course should conclude with what households and individuals can do to reduce their carbon footprint and more generally lead more environmentally friendly lives."

The actual, final content of the modules may change, depending on how relevant this course design is and how feasible it is to complete in class. Much of the work, which will be inserted between other class activities, will be done by you in groups. The modules are:

Module 1: Introduction to Global Warming and Its Causes
Module 2: Oil-Based Fuels in International Transport
Module 3: Carbon Footprint Reduction in the Transport Sector
Module 4: Grassroots Action: Households and Individuals
Module 5: Toward an Environmentally Friendly Future
