In
this course we will explore what art history reveals about how artists have
imagined, interpreted, resisted and engaged with environmental change. Focusing
on nineteenth-century art, we will examine key texts that discuss ecology
within an art historical framework. Key questions we will address include Whose
specific visions of nature are being represented?
We will also consider how certain human and non-human groups have been
marginalised or omitted from art historical narratives.
